Greetings everyone,
This website has been a great resource for me as I try to get my team ready for the season. We are in an all players league with high school rules so no minimum play or weight limit.
I now basic football but I'm not even at the high school or middle school coaching level, I'm essentially learning with these kids. I volunteered to assistant coach this team and ended up being volunteered to head coach. It's just me and 1 other parent running the show and he's really just directing traffic on drills for me. I have 17 kids 9 of which are decent sized and are athletic.
I've never seen this league before, I was in Afghanistan last year, so I don't know how much passing we'll see. I was thinking of running Dave Cisar's Wide Tackle 6 defense because it seems simpler than other D's and I have some documentation on it that I can use to assist me.
All that said it seems to me the Wide Tackle 6 is setup more to stop the run. I have a QB that can throw it and we intend to do that so I assume other teams in the league will do the same since these guys are a little older. Is there a defense out there that is a little better against the pass or am I wrong about the WT6 against the pass?
Thanks in advance for your help.
