I just made a facebook page for our small high school program in Wyoming. I was wondering if you guys could lend some expertise to managing one of these.
Here are the reasons I decided to make a page (and how I plan to use it) 1. Kids are on Facebook 24/7 2. Hudl highlights can be posted with the play of the week 3. Updates and info for our athletes and parents 4. Parents can post pictures that I can use after the season for our highlight tape. All our parents take pictures, but passing around flash drives is a disaster.
How else would you guys recommend using this?
What are some problems or bad situations I need to look out for?
Here's all I have so far: www.facebook.com/wranglerfootball

Pretty much what you do. I also like to give inspirational quotes or YouTube videos. I post pump up music or videos on game day.
A good tip would be to make Facebook events for every game you play, that way kids can look up their schedules on their phones. No more "Coach do we play team A? Where? When? What jersey? Is the varsity there? Do we get to watch? How much? Blah blah blah."

Here's all I have so far: www.facebook.com/wranglerfootball We do basically the same thing, except ours is more geared towards making the entire athletics program visible rather than just the football program. If we didn't, we'd have other programs complain about how it's "all about football". We also use our facebook page as a way to advertise to the community. We post our schedules on there and we post all pictures/videos. The only thing about it is that it can be very time consuming because you need to try to have some kind of content every day, and that can be hard if you don't have someone on staff that can dedicate some of their time to it. If you'd like to see how we're using it, check our page out: www.facebook.com/sylvanhillsathletics

Regarding pictures being posted...just make sure they have a media release (if your district uses one)
