As the HC, do you guys give out phone numbers at parent meetings, player meetings, or both? I was only going to give out my e-mail at first, but some parents do not have the internet in my district.

Both. Don't give your players any excuse when it comes to failure to communicate.

both...my cell is best though... text is usually the choice of my players.. this is the world they live in and I am adapting... Just tonight I have gotten 5 text from 5 different players about football things... I have learned kids LOVE to text and this is the language they use more then not. I send a general text to my whole varsity team probably 2 times a week... reminders of what I want... Not what I would use but it is the choice of this generation. I am 40 and I am trying to adapt to this generation.

Nothing wrong with texting kids. Most programs have Facebook groups, Instagram, twitter, etc. Anything that helps them feel more connected.

I personally prefer email, but some of our families don't have regular internet access. Besides, like others have said, players (and increasingly parents) seem to prefer to texting anyway. I give out both.

I text or tweet with my kids all the time. It's a good way to connect with the kids.

I use group texts , have face book pages set up for team and postion groups, the booster club has a face book page, use the hudl messenger which isent great to the limit it puts on message size but the best for me is just givin. Out paperwork at the weight room.
For myself I'm pretty bad about email have missed a few from parents this summer when I was on vacation or out of town. I have about 5 different emails and just am not use to checking my school or hudl account ones during the summer. I would think a lot of parents are the same way this is why I favor a multiple approach to getting out info over email.

We use Celly, but I still give the kids my cell phone number. Parents have my one email address because I am the communications guy.

We've been using www.remind101.com/ for communicating with players and parents. Texting and group messaging can get confusing or become a lot of work. Make a free acount on Remind101 and your parents and players sign themselves up, can choose email, text, or both for their messages. Parents really like it.

My assistant coaches text info to the kids. I don't text. I'm old fashioned-I don't even have a cell phone.
