I just took over my son's 6-7yr old team and this week is the first full week of practice and pads. I've only had about 10 minutes with them last week and there is going to be a huge learning curve. They are mostly first time players. I've played and coached in college and I don't think I've ever been this nervous before a practice week!!! I have a preliminary plan on paper but I was anxious to get some of your thoughts. This is rec league football and I really want the parents to feel confident that we're organized and their kids will improve. Oh, and did I mention this is the South. I was thinking of having 3 stations - 1) tackling 2) blocking/stance 3) ball handling and then rotating every 10-15 min. In between water breaks we would change the drills at each station and continue. Maybe tie to all together with a short team period at the end. My main goal is to find out who my players are so I can begin placing them in positions. Any thoughts or advice is much appreciated.
Thanks, Chris

Cut it down to 5 minutes and once they've gone through change the drills and repeat. No point in having team if you haven't figured out who can play.

Good call. I just want to keep them moving. No standing around and I hate lines as do most coaches. I have 2 assistants which should ease some of the pressure.
