My two best senior lineman ended up in the hospital after the game. They are both out now, but while they literally put everthing they had into the game we had other players giving up on the field. How would you handle this over then last two weeks of the season?
In our rivalry game, we have struggled as a team for many years esp the past two, these two put everything they had into blowout loss. Player A two-way starter for the past three years, was leading the team in tackles at DT so we moved him to MLB. Player B the classic over-achiever, he is 165lbs dripping wet and has started DE for two years, led the team in tackles last year, and C this year.
Player A smashed his hand earlier inthe game the OC didn't know when we finally get on the goaline The OC and HC calls the play with him in the backfield. He fumbles the ball thru the endzone and is so upset he begins hyper-ventilating into an asthma attack. He ended up passing out before we could get him into the ambulance. While I am at the hospital with his family once he is stable Player B gets wheelchaired into the next room.
Player B has been sick all week and has not led on how little he was able to keep down in fear of losing playing time. He was so delusional when he got there he just was rambling on about "senior year we didn't get it done" his heart rate went up 50 bpm when I cam into the room. The kept him overnight to flush out his kidneys and rehydrate him.
It has been a long weekend. The parents have been good with all of the happenings. They understand the drive of their sons' and thier bull-headedness. I have even made the statement at the begining of the season that these two were the only ones the drank the kool-aid.
any advice or just some encouragement I am a little at a loss right now.
