I just found out last night that my new program is $11,000 in the hole from the last coach.. They are trying to go after his retirement to recoup some of it..
I know he bought new home and away jerseys and a set of pants.. all of which was around 5k.. but not sure where the other 6 or so went..
I guess I need to starting hitting the fundraising road quick.. No money in the community.. one of the worst neighborhoods in the city.. very high crime rate..
Any ideas on generating money from other areas of the city who might not exactly be supporters of our program?

where the heck was the AD in all of this? How did he let the old coach get away with that? The AD should also be acountable.
Things might be run different where you are but there's no way a head coach could get away with that unless ofcourse he was also the AD.

Yea that is a question I need to ask. I think he ordered a lot of stuff without a PO. They just received a $1300 bill this week.. not sure as to what it was for.

PDP company is a great one. Also a lift a thon or check out Varisyt Gold. Between PDP (solicitation letter) and Varsity Gold Cards we raised a little over 16k with about 50-60 kids participating.

1. Yes, ask Terry Bradshaw to help out and link something in the football program to him on his behalf: A perpetual award, a scholarship, etc.
2. Our annual Football Raffle has been a great fundraiser. Lots of people/businesses can donate prizes, gift cards, timeshares, etc. many little prizes and a few nice ones ring the bell loudly for potential buyers.
3. Forming an Ambassador Group containing Parents of the 10th, 11th & 12th Grade football players will develop a Pipeline of willing and experienced parents to help out the football program without having to redo everything each season, etc.
Why rebuild each year when you can simply reload your fundraising pipeline?
These have worked very well for us.

At my old school they did one of the best fundraisers I ever saw and did it every year. They had an alumni night in the school cafeteria and charged $25 dollars a head. They had a buffet with hot roast beef sandwiches and wings and snacks. They showed old game films on a projection screen and switched them every so often and some of the more recent ones were year long highlight films. They had older players bring in scrapbooks and older newspaper articles. While this happened the new players walked around and talked with the older guys, cleaned tables, and straightened up. Started at 5PM and lasted to around 11 and then most of the older guys went out to a bar. Being a public school no alcohol was allowed. Many of the previous head coaches would show up and it really turned out to be a great time. They would auction off some of the older helmets, a new jersey, and sold t-shirts with the school name and football alumni on it, said "Panther for life" on it. HFC had a donation bucket for checks and envelopes and the alums would usually put another $20 or more in it and there name and class year were printed in the back of every home game program and banquet program for the season. Last year I coached there (1999) we had over 150 players show up that represented classes back to 1972. This always happened on the last weekend of camp and it was a great team building activity.

I was thinking that too.. Its not like he stole the money, I am assuming he purchased stuff that is still there now.

how does your AD and treasurer let him continue to purchase stuff???
I know you dont have any money now, but if you do want to buy some equipment/practice gear check out your local colleges in the spring. Every year here CAL has a big spring sale just to get rid of all their old stuff, their practice pants only a year old for just 3 bucks a pair. Its on a first come first serve basis, and i dont care if i have to sleep outside the night befire i will be first in line

Shotgun, that sounds like real good time. I wish our school would have an alumni night. Sorry to hear about the loss of money. Well, that is one thing that you can improve on right away.
