We are a small Pop Warner organization. We have two experienced staffs of coaches and one that is pretty new but the number of coaches is small. We have been thinking of having the teams all work together in practice to learn fundamentals. Warm up and basic techniques will be taught by the whole staff then when it is time for contact and running plays we will brake-up into their age and weight related teams. Any and all advice on how to best run this type of practice organization would be greatly appreciated. We are looking to maximize our coaching experience over three teams.
Thank you

You could even have contact drills done together as long as the players are properly paired up by age and/or size. My method is to have all players line up by height, then pair the odd & even numbers in line. (You don't have to actually number them.)

You may want to be careful with this if you are a Pop Warner organization. I'm pretty sure having kids from different age/weight groups practice together is strictly forbidden under PW rules, regardless of whether the shared practices are contact or not.

I don't know how "practice together" is defined i.e. they can't be going through the same drills together? they can't be mixed/mingled? they can't be on the same field? so, based on that you could try this... if coaching numbers allow and rules allow ....
one team is practicing offense with half the coaches on one end while the other team is practicing defense on the other end. after a certain time, switch sides (coaches switch to other team). the "HC" of each team can stay with that team.
other than being in the same vicinity, they aren't practicing "together". would be the same as if the other team wasn't there, except they are going through drills of their own on other end of the field or another field nearby.
if even THAT is prohibited than i guess you could 'stack' the practices back-to-back. one team goes from 4:30-6 & other goes from 6-7:30 or something like that. or practice on different days. either way, you would be still be using all the coaches to maximize the numbers you have.

We go Mondays 5th/6th, Tuesdays 3rd/4th, and Thursdays both together. Mostly same group of dads. It has worked well for us. All kids do periods together including individual, screen, tackle circuit, etc. The age/weight thing is not an issue as long as the kids are paired correctly. We also never tackle low or take anyone to the ground except in splatter drill. This allows out coaches to be stretched further and for the younger kids to see how the older kids do it. Each group also gets to be coached by the top coach at their position.
