Does Anyone not use girdles? I thought I saw a team that just used another belt to hold the girdle pads. I think this is a good idea because we have problems with sizing the girdles and having to get them washed. Does anyone just use the belts because the girld pads all have slots for the belts?

Some people belt their pads through the girdle and use the hip pads. Other good way of doing it is to get the McDavid Hex pad shorts that have hip and butt pads built in so no girdle is required.

McDavid Hex pad shorts that have hip and butt pads built in so no girdle is required. We are looking into using them next year. I have received positive feedback from a couple of coaches that use them. Any feedback on advantages/disadvantages would be appreciated.

When I played in college I always used the belt for pads. I felt it was one less piece of cloth on me.
On a second note how many of your teams use a jock. I am really tried of seeing underwear / boxers etc. You never see this in the pros or college.

It looks bad and I dont know how the kids deal with thier junk flopping around while running and getting hit.

I prefer spandex under the pads. Our kids didn't seem to have any complaints to the hex pads. They never shift out of position like a girdle will.

Yeah, it's what it sounds like and I know of a guy whose NFL career was short-circuited by it. I wish we could get our guys to wear jocks.

We also use the McDavid Hex girdle. No complaints and in fact if we don't count/collect them at the end of the year, they walk away. I guess they like to wear them lifting weights or running.

The compression "shorts" with the pockets are the way to go. Some kids will buy their own...
IT HELPS ELIMINATE KIDS WEARING THOSE BAGGY BOXERS UNDER THE PANTS

The Hex pad shorts are the way to go. We ordered enough for half of our players last year and will take care of the other half this year. End-of-the-year inventory is so much easier. Plus, we used to have problems with a kid having all of his pads for practice except one tailpad or one hip pad. They would run one reminder for each piece of equipment they were missing and some space cadets would still forget. Now, since the Hex is actually a girdle, tail pad, and two hip pads, it counts as four pieces of equipment(four reminders--very tough). We only had one kid forget and that was all it took.

Hex pads are the way to go. Our kids buy their own since these are "personal garments"(the program purchases at a bulk rate and sells them for cost.) I see our basketball players wearing them under their uni's. They form fit directly around the hip bones. We have yet to have an injury as a result of the hex pads.
