HC's, DC's, OC's What do you want out of the guy in the pressbox?...What do you want to know every play and how do you want it relayed to you?..Do you want him tracking info or keeping any stats. And how do you want that info presented at half-time for adjustments.
Any thoughts?.....

one thing i think is very important is to have someone do the "tackle chart". i want to know who made the tackle on each play. what he does is chart the play & the # of the guy that made the play and what position he plays (he may have to go back to the depth chart we give him to identify where a # plays) this helps me in determing where breakdowns are occuring without having to actually see the POA (if i've got my attention on another detail - say, checking SS for Playaction or DE for qb keep, etc.). also, it gives you a great idea of what complimentary play should be called.
i know it seems like a small thing, as we all end up identifying the tackler but i like to have it written down so i can refer to it later. so much goes on in the game that i often forget. the tackle chart really serves as a good indicator for me as to how we need to adjust throughout the game. see it on paper shows me the "trends" so to speak and leads me to better adjustments to account for that defender better on those particular plays (change formation, use motion, etc.)

we have our 9th grade and 10th grade OC's up in the booth and they drawing up alignments to all of our formations (10-15 formations per night) and fronts, coverage, stunts and blitz by down and distance and formation.
Huey, I like the idea of the tackle chart. Makes sense.
