IN regards to your team...for me...I focused on these three things this year...
1) dominant offensive line- doesnt matter if we are small, weak, slow or whatever, we will have the most feared running game with a dominant oline.
2) class and sportsmanship from our team. - this is huge, just huge for me. I never want to be viewed as a coach that coaches bush league tactics or allows thuggery on my squad. we had 0 unsportsmanlike penalties and im thrilled with that.
3) gang tackling. This is so important. I want everyone to know that when you face my team YOU WILL BE HIT BY ALOT OF DEFENDERS on every play.

This year looks like the same as any other year, for me.....even though I'm going to offense from defense, the philosophy hasn't changed
1) Aggressive and Nasty - balls out until the echo of the whistle, no loafing until we're off the field.
2) Speed - using athletes to out hustle and pressure our opponent.
3) Multiplicity - simple concepts we roll with to make the guy on the other side stay up late, while WE are all on the same page.

Great Topic Coach....
1. TEAM UNITY- Beyond the X's and O's, I want my guys to KNOW each other. Building a team chemistry will enable guys to develop relationships that will last when football is long gone. It also makes it harder for guys to give up on one another because they know "Steve" from Indiana with 2 brothers and 1 sister is counting on them.
2. Swagger/Confidence- A smart Coach on this board once said that the difference between average teams and good teams is that the average team goes into a game hoping that they will win. A great team goes into a game EXPECTING to win. Even when things are going wrong, Its important for my guys to still feel confident in the system.

1 - Play with great effort in everything we do! 2 - Play with great enthusiasm - capture the passion every single time you step on the field! 3 - Discipline - doing the right thing when you are supposed to!

1. Our kids believe that they will win everytime they take the field 2. We preach "Win the next play" and they try like heck to do so 3. We also preach "Play as hard as you can for as long as you can"
If we get the kids doing those three things, everything else seems to fall into place.

1. Building a Brotherhood - Our former players from years back (3-4 years) are best friends with some of our current players. Once you join the football team you are part of the family. 2. Smash Mouth football - Sometimes we can beat people just by them seeing us on their schedule. 3. (Tie) Technically sound with all 3 phases of the game and having great character (this includes sportsmanship)

We are respected in the community and have the strictest discipline of any school in the classification. We win some games too.

No broken plays, no delay of game penalties, no cases of 10/12 men on the field, no penalties, no broken coverages, no missed assignments ont he OLine...the mental game
I can't teach speed but I can teach the game.

Just hit me today as we were collecting gear. Almost every player came by and said, "Coach, I wish we were out practicing right now!" One of those GREAT moments when all the BS disappears and you know (again) why you're a coach.

Above all else- I want my kids to be NASTY when it comes to playing defense. When they're shedding and tackling, they should be mauling people on the offense.

Poise. If something bad happens, play ball. Turnover? Suck it up and play. That's what the big bucks are for. Anybody can stop the bad guys on the -20. Third down conversion? OK, first down. Here's the call. Penalty, maybe a possible bad call? Well, what are you going to do, forfeit?

My point of view on our D....
1) Out and out hustle and team pursuit (=gang tackles) 2) Negligible penalties of any sort 3) No egos, just a ton of respect for team mates and coaches.
A great bunch of lads!

Creating take-aways (we have 34 through 10 games this year) and scoring off of them (we've scored on 7 of them).

Mauling??? Let's hit hard. Let's hit the kid so hard the ball comes loose. But let us also help him up so he can get back to the huddle, so we can hit him again - within the rules of football.

i am most proud of the fact that i have at least 7 kids who have played for me that want to coach, i must be doing something right if they feel the need to give back (as I did). now if i can just find a school where i can hire all 7 of them, things will be perfect,

watching my kids grow and beome accountable in the class room seeing them come
to an understanding of the term Student-athelete watching them develop the ability to think
outside of the box becoming leaders not only on my football field but in my school. i have
always taught that the strong should always protect the weak not take advantage of the
weak watching my players walk that out. Their work ethic sacrifices they are willing to make
for the teams success
