Being the boss and getting to make all the decisions you want about everything
The worst part of being a HC is.........................
Spending so much time on unrelated crap that you don't get to be involved with actual football as much
The best part of being an AC is .........................
Having a defined area of responsibility and being king within it, while not having to worry about secondary crap
The worst part of being an AC is.......................
Feeling like no matter how good you are it can be for naught if another coach does a crappy job with his unit

A small staff that's almost entirely part-time volunteer that forces us to improvise a lot.

Best part of being a HC is: It is your program, you can run the program in your image
Worst part of being a HC: You get all the blame when times are bad, and all the politics get directed to you.
Best part of being an AC: Not having to deal with the worst part of being a HC
Worst part of being an AC: You get to make a lot of decisions, but just not enough to satisfy yourself, and those few things you can't decide are probably the ones you feel strongest about.
The best thing about our program is: We have amazing coaches (experience, great teachers) + the best manager (volunteer parent) in the state who takes care of every off-field issue the coaches want nothing to do with. He also gets us top quality equipment.
The worst thing about our program is: No community or school support. All money towards the program is put in by our manager, a small group of parents (maybe four total), or us coaches.
The best thing about offseason is: It's laid back. It's a time to really get to know players and to get to know the new ones.
The worst thing about offseason is: No contact and 90 degree weather.

The best part of being a HC is...... Having the final say in every aspect of your program (personnel, scheme, schedule)
The worst part of being a HC is..... Having the final say in every aspect of your program (fundraisers, parent meetings, disgruntled parents cause little johnny isn't playing, dealing with that one AC who doesn't get it)
The best part of being an AC is..... You never see your name in the paper because of a big loss

The best thing about our program.... Most of our guys are bought into the program and those that aren't usually can't handle the peer pressure to stick around very long.
The worst thing about our program.... only one of our staff actually teaches at the high school... we have a self-employed construction worker, a preacher, middle school teacher, and business man.
The best thing about the offseason is..... definitely the break
The worst thing about the offseason is..... No football and worrying that your best athletes will get some freak injury in basketball or baseball and be out for the next season or part of it.

It's yours, you get to put your stamp on it. At the end of the day, you are the reason for the end result.
The worst part of being a HC is.........................
Not always being able to "just coach football", having to do the other meaningless stuff like fill out paperwork, equipment orders, recruiting highlights etc.
The best part of being an AC is .........................
The pressure is less than being "the guy". You get to coach football, and not deal with parents, admin. etc.
The worst part of being an AC is.......................
Depends on who you work for really. If you work for a micro manager, Lord help you. I would say having to do the "grunt" work like laundry, or lining the field etc.

The town does not support football, and the program shows it. Hard to raise money and ENTIRELY too much politics...

You get a chance to self-scout and do some off-season work on film as well as a bit of vacationing.

The weight room. It's a drudgery and lacks football, I can handle it, but it just gets old and FAST.

The best part of being AC......you can go home at night and not worry about all the non-football stuff

The best thing about our program......history and tradition that we are bringing back

Best part of being an AC is being the HC's go to guy and getting to build my own run game into our offense.
The worst part is being his right hand man while he doesn't work in the building. I do all of the administrative stuff.
