Well - from a sports performance stand-point alone, you can't go to a week of camps and the be optimal for combine testing. Sprinters don't train hard the entire week before a big meet.

But..you practice all week before you play correct? How many balls is he throwing in practice?

coachd5085...I think that is completely different. Teams also begin to lighten the load before the game or as the season progresses, practices are nearly as physical. Plus - 1 person managing an athlete's workload is different then 3.

Going to a camp for 2-6 hours a day with nothing but throwing throwing throwing is very different than a team practice where him throwing is only a portion of the whole event.

so long as they are paying for it, why can't the kid do it? If the kid has poor showings, that's on him. If he gets hurt, same could happen anywhere. I couldn't imagine parents wanting to be that involved to invite that type of logistical headache (regardless of the performance issues) Why make it a problem?

Parents are not as informed as we are/should be... and do not realize the physiological stress that such activities could present... Just the same as you would not want a pitcher to pitch 6 days straight... they need rest... 48 hours ideally.

If he manages the amount of reps he takes in each context, and disciplines himself to avoid wasted throwing...he should be able to get through it pretty well...just curious...does he have a shot to show well? Is he a legit prospect?

Is he a legit prospect? He is... probably not D1, but has a shot at the D2 schools for sure. Is barely 6'0.. but has brothers that are 6'7, 6'5, 6'4, 6'4, 6'2... so there is hope!
