Any program worth its salt, is run by the private sector. You dont need a european style set up to have that. Private financing, individuals who are willing to donate money, is already done by any high school that has really nice facilities and othe such things. Good point. Wouldn't donations only help the those with the Alumni base / community support? Seems plenty of schools would have to stop offering Sports if they were 100% reliant on donations. It could very quickly become the have's and the have not's. A Club format could...profit share like the NFL maybe? If they had to survive on donation i.e ticket sales, fans in the stands, alumni contributing, football and men basketball would be the only sports played in school anywhere in the good ole U.S of A. Club sports would need the same support and would find their funding in the same manner. In some sense club sports already exist in the current system. donations are the alumni and community support. Why do you think College football is so expensive? Gov. does not pay nick saban, they do not pay for saban's players to have steak, chicken, ribs, or whatever their desires. Some High schools can pay their coach 6 figures, and not because of govt. Their is a reason some school spend 3 million on a scoreboard, and others you are luck to be playing grass. All because of community and alumni support. Wink, wink, nod, nod.
