HEy coaches, I have a question about taxes and donations. I have an ex-player who wants to donate money to the program. HE wants to donate about 2,000 dollars but he said he needs something to show his accountant so he can get his write-off. Does anyone hav eany information about this. The ex playerowns his own business and really wants to donate the money.

Just write him a letter saying Mr. so-and-so donated $2,000 to the football team.
You don't need to figure out the tax situation, just provide him with documentation and let him and his accountant figure it out.

Your school or district should have a Tax-ID number that he will need to get the tax write-off. He'll need to show what non-profit group he donated to.
