Being new to this board, I would like to hear what YOUR coaching philosophy is. For example here is mine.
You win football games by developing athletes in terms of 1. strength; 2. speed; 3. fundamentals.
I'd like to hear yours. There are so many coaches on this site--it blows all of the other boards away!
Responses are appreciated.

While I agree that it is easier to win with stronger, faster, and fundamentally sound athletes, there are far more attributes (most of which we have control over as coaches--much more control than strength & speed). For me, the most important attribute of a successful team is accountability. Players who are held accountable for their actions will hit the weights, run the sprints, and learn the nuts & bolts of their position. I realize that some players are easier to reach than others, but at least those less willing players know the consequences of their actions. I tell my players that their future boss cares less if they can throw a fade pattern, execute a midline option, or play Cover 2 safety (unless its Bill Parcells). Their boss wants them to listen to instructions, show up to work on time, continue to improve oneself, have respect for fellow co-workers, etc. This is a good thread & I know I am missing many other attributes. What are some other attributes of a successful team?

Coach Huey's Offensive Philosophy (take it for what it's worth ... lol) 1. Execution of the Offensive Game Plan• Eliminate turnovers • Eliminate penalties • Eliminate mental mistakes 2. Pressure the Defense• Use multiple sets while running the same plays • Attack the weakness of the defense. “Scratch where it itches” • Make the defense adjust to us…keep them guessing • We set the tempo 3. Be Multiple and Never Predictable• Utilize 2, 3, & 4 receiver packages from any position on the field • Use motion within our base offense • Use various play-calling tempos to both control the clock and dictate tempo 4. Appear Complex Yet be Simple• Utilize multiple personnel packages • Run base plays from wide variety of sets & motions 5. Base Scheme: 3-receivers (with carry-over for both 1-back & 2-back)• Establish the running game • Establish a quick passing game • Utilize play-action passes • Pass to set up the run. • Use a check system at the line of scrimmage to take advantage of a defensive weakness “Yes, it is true, defense does win championships. But, I’ve never won a title when we didn’t score.” Steve Spurrier

PRACTICE AND DEVELOPMENT CONSIDERATIONS
• Everything is done at a high level of enthusiasm & competitiveness. Push each other. • Never be satisfied. • All out effort - All the time. • Coaches and players must expect more of themselves. • Always use “US” and “WE” not “I” and “ME.” Make being on the TEAM the greatest experience of our athlete’s life. • We are fortunate. We were given the ability to be a part of this great game. • Encourage each other to work harder. The harder we work, the harder it is to surrender. Remember, if you don’t invest very much then losing doesn’t hurt very much, this applies to both players and coaches. • We do work harder than our opponent. • We play hard from first snap to last snap. • Discipline. • Never walk on the practice field, don’t be the one we must wait on. • Never Bend Down. No resting hands on knees. • Never Lean on Equipment. Always on one knee. • With hard work we can accomplish it. Football is no sport for a lazy athlete. • We will sweat the small stuff. The little things we do will make us champions. • Our success = Our attitude = Our work habits. BUILDING A CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL PROGRAM
1. Expect it to happen. Demand full effort (110%). 2. Talk and think in terms of success and believe it will happen. 3. Dream big and stay focused. 4. Develop a plan. Believe in it and improve it constantly. 5. Analyze and make our plan fit. It must fit our personnel. 6. No one person more important than the team.

We implemented a idea to our guys to live by. We also wanted to keep our guidelines short and to the point. I took this right out of our playbook.
Have a commitment to P.R.I.D.E.
P.oise- Maintain a gracious state of mind in adverse situations on and off the field! Don't do anything that will embarass your family, friends or school.
R.espect- Respect yourself, your family, your teamates, your coaches and football.
I.ntensity- Live with it. Practice with it. Play with it.
D.esire- Have the desire to be great. Have the desire to be perfect. Have the desire to be a champion.
E.xcitement- Be excited to live. Be excited to be on this team. Be excited to be playing the wonderful sport of football. Play with excitement.
