do you coaches allow kids to listen to music or play video games in the locker room before games and practices?
the pros do, so the kids think they need to now.
what kind of music do you allow the kids to listen to.
I have a no rap music or hip hop music rule.

we let them listen to music, but tell them that if we here one F bomb or anything that we consider vulger, the stereo is gone. We have only had to take it away one time about 3-4 years ago towards the end of the season.

we used to be real prohibitive about it - we let the players use it up to 5 minutes before practice and an hour before game night warm up. Keeps 'em loose.
You fear the worst...but I remember last year, the worst we heard was Led Zepellin, some classical music, Gospel Praise, some Garth Brooks (wth!??)......
I think my musical tastes are "worse" than the kids.

I use to let music bother me, now I let them listen to music as long as it is clean.

We play music during our pre-game warmups. It really helps set the mood our kids eat it up and it actually can intimidate some of our opponets(We play in a shared city stadium that seats about 8000 but play in a league due to classification with mostly rural teams that never play on turf) So we have no problem with kids listemning to it before practice/games.

We let them pick the music to play in the locker. We also have a quiet room for the guys wo don't like music before games. We'll show NFL films and our highlight video.

We set up tables and chairs in the dressing room before breakfast and lunch. We welcome all football players to come have lunch with us in the dressing room. While we are eating we listeng to some music. We set up on a local radio station and let it blast. The kids seem to enjoy it more than being in the cafeteria. We also let them listern to the radio after workouts. On game day we have a 30 minute quiet (focus) time and 30 minutes of NFL highlights. This seems to relax them befoe the big game. Before we leave for our away games, we listen to some light rock music, nothing really too bad.
Enjoy, hc

Same as JD in terms of what we tell them. The kids know from my tastes in the wt room what I think is vulgar. Now if they headphones they can listen to whatever they want I guess.
Bon Jovi anyone?

I let them listen to whatever they want. If we get any complaints from anybody, then we will talk to them about it. Most the time, they have a stereo with so much bass, you can't tell what the words are anyway.

We pretty much let them listen to whatever they want. It's their team room, no one but football players in there, we haven't had any complaints over the last 5 years.

we have a stereo system in the varsity locker room. it can be on any time other than meetings or actual practice. kids pick the station and can play cd's as long as no profanity. usually stays on a radio station. wednesday is "country music day" ... per our head coach ... haha. have never had any issue of any kind with it.
at previous school, we had a 32" tv in the varsity room with a super vhs vcr. opponent cut-ups were placed in a box on top so they could watch video whenever. we did (at one time) allow them to bring up an xbox & play some games. however, had an issue of a controller getting broken & complaining about "scratching" the game, etc. so we stopped that before it got out of hand.
we tell 'em to "enjoy life, but the 2 hours at practice is business" ... allow them to blow off steam so they have no excuse (no burnout crap) for not working hard during practice/meetings.
