If you had a chance to sit and talk to a successful 30+ year head coach with multiple state championships. What 3 or 4 questions would you ask? and why?

What is the number one thing you did that changed or made the program a success? How do you handle people and situations so that you come out with both sides being winners? What or who influenced you the most in coaching?
On the why, I want to know what he does different, how he handles people (good ones always have a way), and who influnced him so I can also look at that

When are you retiring?
Who do I have to kill to get the job?

Based off of experiences I've had:
Are you a pr!ck because you're successful or are you successful because you're a pr!ck?

My first two would be offshoots of questions asked on here recently.
1. What is the number 1 thing your program does best?
2. What is the most important aspect of your program?
The answers for those two might be similar or have some carryover, I'd imagine.
3. Something about discipline, not sure how I'd word it right now.
4. I'd ask something about his x's and o's philosophy, based on what schemes he'd run. If talking to someone of this stature, hopefully I'd aleady know something about what he does on offense and defense.

What is the number one thing you did that changed or made the program a success? This would be interesting to hear. I'm willing to bet it's something much more simple and obvious than many coaches would believe it to be.

1. How he keeps a balance with his family? 2. How to set up the offseason? 3. How would he set up the feeder programs? 4. What must he have from adminstration before he would take a job?

Great answers. I would ask a lot of the same questions. What do you differently or better than others? Have you had to deal with this situation? How? What's your best 2 point play?

How is your off season program structured? How did you get the kids to buy into it originally? How do you deal with parents? You wanna go get something to eat? (This question buys me time to ask him more questions)

My top 3 have probably been covered above, but a couple that come to mind would be: -What do you look for in assistant coaches? -Did you ever have a hump where your program had to move from mediocre to good, good to great? How did you move to the next level?

My burning question I want to ask a guy who goes deep in the playoffs every year is simply this-
How do you prepare the kids and your staff to play 14 or whatever games every year?
We made it to the second round this year and I'll be honest, we were toast by then. The kids were exhausted, my staff was exhausted and I was exhausted about 5 weeks before then. I would want to know how they prepare to be fresh by the state championship.
