Did anyone see that game? That was the hardest hitting game I have seen in a LONG time. Those guys were getting after it..Both of those teams could be alot of FBS teams..Thoughts?

Agree 100%. I was flipping between that and the DIII game. That was a hard hitting game as well. But not on the same level as NDSU/GaSouthern obviously.

Only saw the first quarter while I was out to eat, but I really enjoyed it.

I love this time of year. Small college football shows the game in its purest form. Love it.

Two very well coached teams with a lot of players who could play at the FBS level. NDSU has had a nice run of OL kids who could play up at the FBS.

GA Southern (I am biased as I got my MS from there) has a very rich traditon in D1AA. I hate they lost, but give ND State some credit, they recruit all over this country and have some great talent! You gotta be a heckuva recruiter to convince kids to leave sunny FL to come to the frozen tundra of ND!!

I was at the game. It was one of the best games I have ever seen. Everything the ESPN2 announcers may have said about the noise in the Fargo Dome is 100% accurate. It was LOUD when GSU had the ball and dead quiet when NDSU had the ball. Both teams were getting after it and playing through the whistle, very very exciting game to see.
GSU has a great team. Their QB, McKinnon, is a stud. He was getting at least 3 yards every time he had the ball. And GSU runs the flexbone so well. They had 430 total yards and 20 points against an NDSU defense that had not given up a TD in the last 3 playoff games.
Both those teams would be very competitive at the FBS level.

Both those teams would be very competitive at the FBS level. For a game or two.... but probably not season-long for obvious reasons.

Both FCS semis were entertaining. I played and coached against ND State when they were still D2 and they have a great tradition there. I know competitive is relative, but I believe they said Coach Bohl is 6-3 against FBS competition and sure, they beat Colorado State this year (who isn't very good, but these are quality teams at this level. I also enjoyed watching an entire game where I didn't have to see a team rely on the spread offense.

I should have explained my definition of competitive. Would they hang with Notre Dame or Alabama, no not a chance. But I believe each could be in the hunt to make a small bowl game. That's my definition of competitive, over .500 and fighting for a small bowl game.

I think he was referring to just those two teams not the whole FCS. But I understand the point.

I watched this game and the one with Valdosta State too this past week end.
I don't know why but I enjoy more those games than the FBS ones...

I may be a little bias, but I think the NDSU football team is a very good FCS team and could compete in a MAC type conference in FBS. I have the privlage to watch a lot of their games, because I live in Fargo, ND. Their recruiting is primarily in the Midwest. They get a ton of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and even South Dakota kids. They also get a few from Chicago area that Illinois didn't get or another Big 10 team. They also take chances on kids. The CB Marcus Williams was a WR in High School and everyone said he was too small to play FBS, he is one of the best FCS players. Also the DC from last year went to Southern Cal. and he believed that Williams could play at USC. Don't take anything away from the Coaching staff there either. The players love those coaches and will play hard for them. I have had the privlege to coach a couple of the players there and they said they have a lot of fun in practice, but also understand the game a whole lot more.
