You know this isn't a "Football" problem. Its a professional sports problem. Contracts aren't being honored because these teams hire these coaches with all these "Out" clauses. I don't blame Petrino, for going to Arkansas, if you listen to the players, they do have prima-donna attitudes. I heard some of the Falcon players today talking about how Petrino didn't treat them like "MEN". How when they had team dinners, he wanted the players to not be loud at dinner. Excuse me, but your being paid A LOT of money to do what the head coach tells you to do. It has nothing to do with being treated like a "Man", its called following what your boss tells you. I really think professional athletes have lost touch with reality.

cmow--the difference is that Charlie Weis was the OC with the Patriots, not the HC.

Look what happened to Marty Schottenheimer; you wonder why coaches at that level treat it the way they do. If coaches can have all of the success that Marty had and still be fired, then it makes sense to have a business mentaility with respect to the job.

I really think professional athletes have lost touch with reality. Petrino and has staff (which includes his son) are hard driving coaches. They're intense, competitive guys who bring out the competitive nature in the guys they coach. He demands a lot of from his players and his staff and he gets a lot out of them. This isn't my preference in coaching styles; but it works. I have gathered this from former players of his, guys who who have coached with and around him, and from watching clips of Louisville practices. This type of attitude doesn't work with professional athletes; many of us around here wondered how well he would do in the NFL. Back to the example of Schottenheimer; he and Petrino are very similar coaches. Even while the Chargers were winning, he still had players whining about what a hard-a$$ Marty was.
