I'm getting ready to watch the D.5 State Championship game in Virginia, Lake Taylor (Norfolk) vs. Stone Bridge (Loudon County). This is the kind of matchup that you only see in HS because both have very unorthodox systems. SB is mostly unbalanced single wing, with some spread. LT's defense is lock-on man and bring the house and they're really good at it. Both have athletes and both have veteran coaches who know their jobs well. This will be fun.

I read that LT had given up ONLY 60yds rushing through the first 12 games (10 regular season & 2 playoffs). -678yds in TFL's duringthe season North Stafford gave them a battle in the Semi's...I think Stone Bridge is too disciplined for LT in the end.

Having played both a number of times I can tell you that Hank Sawyer's bunch is well disciplined (and Mickey Thompson's SB team has plenty of athletes). Great game.

Didn't mean it to sound like I was saying that LT wasn't disciplined...I just meant that scheme-wise that LT tends to give up BIG plays due to their psycho-attack philosophy and that SB's approach would take advantage. Should be interesting though...
I've been watching the Brookville-James Monroe game online...lots of great athletes on both sides, but Brookville is just better upfront.

No doubt that scheme that SB runs is no joke. When you beat those guys you've done a day's work. I may be kind of gruff about this because I'm seeing on Virginia Preps people saying that SB choked. I guess some people don't know how hard it is to get to that level.

Completely agree...casual fans take it for granted. Since you have 1st hand experience with LT and their defense, what is their general philosophy? Athletes on athletes and just bring all kinds of pressure? To have over 600yds in TFL's is absolutely amazing. I only saw a couple of films, one being against Granby where they didn't appear to have their best game overall. I know that District/Region is loaded with athletes.
