I thought he did an outstanding job of handling not only the question or "statement" but also the tone of the interviewer that asked the question. Where was he trying to go with this? Like Mora said, was he trying to insinuate that UCLA lost that game on purpose?

He handled it extremely well. That reporter was unreal. Then to come back at 4:40 with more statements...very impressed that Mora didn't go off on the guy.

I agree, Mora did a great job of handling the situation and had ever right to make it more heated then what it was. I love the stare he gives the reporter after the 2nd time he suggests that he lost on purpose

Mora was calmer than most would be in that situation. This made me a UCLA fan.

I think it was genius if they lost on purpose
Better matchup than playing Oregon again IMO

If I was going to lose on purpose, I think I'd make a better showing than that, but maybe they were intentionally sandbagging.

I know Stanford beat Oregon but to me Oregon is way more scary to face because of their tempo and athleticism I know Stanford is physical and front 7 is great on D I just think UCLA fears Oregon

The reporter who was pressing the issue has been a hack for quite a few years. From what I've read, this wasn't the first time Mora and him have tussled.
Mora showed much more control than I probably would have. Lots of respect. I live in the south and I'm always looking for a team to follow out west to watch late at night after all the games end. Might have found one.

He's probably already had his blow up on him in the past and now just knows that it's coming so he can handle it appropriately.

If Stanford can beat Oregon, I don't see why UCLA would be more scared to face Oregon than Stanford. You're trading brute power and size for speed and athleticism. Both scary IMO.
The only thing that might be more difficult than getting 100 kids to win a game is trying to get them on the same page to lose the game.
It wouldn't fly with me if I was a player and it isn't the culture Mora is trying to create at UCLA. Bill O'Brien is probably the Coach of the Year for the job he's done at Penn State, but Mora has to be up there with him.
This reporter is a complete hack. If I was the AD, I'd strip his credentials in a heartbeat. He had his mind made up when it came to the story he was going to write. He was hust hoping Mora would give him a soundbite.
Mora is a lot classier than I would have been in that situation.

TJ Simers always has weird angles to his stories. He is a total idiot. It's L.A. so even reporters think they are celebs. I read his story and in his mind he was trying to give Mora an out and come across as genius by "sandbagging". I believe that UCLA didn't hold back. Mora handled it real well.

The reporter is a jerk. Earlier in the year Mora mishandled some media things by throwing everyone (including his own sports information director) out of practice, but this time the reporter was just fishing for nastiness and trying to be the story. Mora handled it about as well as you could have.

Big story today on the sports networks, thought he handled it well.
BUT, this idea that this "reporter" had about UCLA throwing the game is silly. The NFL does this from time to time to keep certain players from injury when they've already clinched their division and playoff spot.
How did this guy think this could be done? UCLA just got whipped, and they might get whipped again. It's not really possible to convince your Oline and Dline to go out there and get their Butt kicked to improve your chances. Can't be done.
Just some typical media jerk thinking he's smarter than the coaches. Just makes me hate the media even more than I do.

Nothing new here... He handled it very well. In times like that I love to just kill them with kindness. Pepper several "Sir"s in the comments directed to them along with the dead lock eye contact (via Mora).

Finally got around to looking at this thread and watching the video. I just gained tremendous respect for Mora. Knowing myself, I am pretty quiet and laid back, but if you come at me like that, especially twice, I might lose my job.
