I never stop learning about the game. A good portion of my day is spent browsing around various resources, picking up as much information about the game as possible.

I don't live in a huge football area, but when working or out and about, I always have football shirts on from the schools I've coached at. I'm on here (and other sites) probably two hours a day, I talk x's and o's and philosophy with my current HC almost daily, and although I'm not a yeller/screamer, my passion comes across to my players as well.

I don't know, but I would guess that I treat every practice like a game (in preparation) with the same enthusiasm (keeping the players excited & encouraged).

I spend my time at work drawing up plays on notepad paper instead of working on multi-million dollar air craft equipment like I'm supposed to be.

It's the middle of October about 7 weeks into the season.
Scenario 1: We are 2 and 5 and when I jump out of bed at 5am - If I'm lucky I got 5 hours of sleep - I hit the ground running and can't wait to get to school to begin working on another day just to get to practice so we can improve and become a better team.
Scenario 2: We are 7 and 0 and when I jump out of bed at 5am- If I'm lucky I got 5 hours of sleep - I hit the ground running and can't wait to get to school to begin working on another day just to get to practice so we can improve and become a better team.
When this is no longer the case in mid-October, I'll hang up the whistle and do something else.

Touchdowng I can't agree more. When I am coaching after I graduate college that is the attitude I want to have. That is the part of me that makes not coaching so difficult. Seeing improvement and striving for improvement is what gives me a reason to get out of bed in the morning.

After waiting for many years for the opportunity to coach my son on varsity - and having a great time when he finally made it, I was afraid I might not have the passion the first season after he had moved onto college. I was wrong, the passion was still there! I think anyone who is on this board will know when the passion is not there.

Passion for the game is wanting to learn as much as possible about the game and applying it to the best of your ability to the players you coach. I would like to believe that I do this on a daily basis.
