What are everyone's PE requirements in their district?
Currently, our district requires that each student take two years of PE to graduate.
Right now they are looking at giving student-athletes a waiver for the second year if they compete in interscholastic sports. I think they are moving in the right direction, but not far enough.
Instead, I think they should adopt school-wide strength & conditioning programs and offer them to student-athletes for PE credit. We offer "weight training" if students have finished their first two years of PE, but these classes aren't athletic based by any means.
So, what are the requirements in you district? What is your setup? Do you have an Athletic period or school wide Strength & Coonditioning program?

I wish we did. I need to have morning workouts to target the footballers. After school they can also lift but everyone is in there doing many sorry attempts at effective training. No PE strength training and no unified program, though I've tried to get one for 32 years. AD's haven't been much help. I still manage to have some success with footballers but their work during other sports is severely lacking.

Our STATE requires 1 PE or ROTC.
district wide we follow the state requirements.
Now we (our district which is 1 high school) offer multiple PE classes. Several of which are PE III in our lexicon...... We have PE III for all individual sports which means you (the HC) can put your athletes in that class.

I know you are in CA
CA state requirement is 2 years of PE
PE 1 and then PE2
ideally taken freshman and sophomore years
Anything after that is an elective PE, you are not actually supposed to be able to take an elective PE like a weight training or football skills class until you complete the mandatory requirements. One of those classes can not substitute for PE 1 and 2
Just like they take and have to pass English 1,2,3,4
They MUST pass PE 1 and 2
Now this is how it is "supposed" to be, but I know many districts are years behind state standards... our school just switched over to doing it the "right way" this current school year.

I am in Cali as well and our district adopted the new standards mannnnny years ago... The school I am at now has ZERO PE Electives... SO I basically "teach" an elective weight training class during 7th period for free... sucks
