Anyone ever studied Bill Snyder and his method of building K State? Yes. Met him at a clinic in '96 or '97. At my request because he didn't have time to finish lecture he sent me his "Building and Sustaining a Program" principles. Have biography They Said It Couldn't Be Done written after his first tenure in Manhattan. He has repeated one of best coaching jobs in history of CFB.

He wrote a chapter in The Football Coaching Bible- Building and sustaining a D1 program. To sum up: start your players off with small achievable goals (improve yourself daily) so that even though the Ws might not come right away they will notice improvement. Get the whole community involved, meet in person and explain what your program philosophy is and how working with you can be mutually beneficial.
Obviously there is a lot more to it, thats just what I remembered as being two of the bigger points. The book itself is always good to have around, and I enjoyed his section; so id recommend giving it a read.

The "16 Goals" are a big part of his coaching philosophy / core values. This website provides an awesome summary of K-State's 16 goals: www.kstatesports.com/16goals/

Actually just finished his book last night. The book is mostly a biography on this life but there is some philosophy in there such as his Goals for Success, thoughts on discipline, etc. Definitely a good read for a coach looking to turn a program around. Focus on getting better everyday!

Do you still have the principles? Can you share? It's actually entitled "20 General Thoughts on Success - Program Leadership - Intangibles" and is eight pages in large font. It includes 12 points on "Attitude Development." And as carookie posted he has the article on "Building and Sustaining a Division I Program" in The Football Coaching Bible.

I also read his book on the 16 principles and how he transformed K - state from the ground up. I live in Kansas, so I've gotten to see how the program changed in the last 20 years. An amazing job. The book on the principles is worth the read.

How is the book? Much depth? Frankly it's not very well-written or edited but if one is interested in Bill Snyder's life-career and how he transformed K-State you can still gain valuable insight.
