We have a fall sports awards ceremony (Which is not extreamly well done). I would like to have a football specific "banquet."
Here's what I was thinking: Local resturaunt that has a banquet room. Have a slide-show/clips playing of the year. Invite a guest speaker (Coach from a local college....former player...etc.) Have a cheap (nice) meal Give out awards We have 21 on Varsity. Obviously they could bring their parents
Anyone do this? Just wondering about the money part of it.... our county has 20% unemployment...so money is a big issue for a lot of people. I should be able to get some donations....

We just got confirmation on the date and location for ours... I am a firm believer in doing certain things VERY WELL, and the end of the season banquet is one of those things I believe in. It allows you to end the season with a GREAT impression for returning players and send the seniors off with a great last impression of the program which I believe helps in the long-run.
We budget during the season to help pay the costs. We provide for the players, but any parents have to pay for their meal:
Expenses: Awards Flowers for coaches' wives Senior gifts Food and Venue
For dinner we are having: Prime-Rib Baked Potato Steamed Vegetables Soup and Salad Drinks Brownies, Cake, Ice Cream for dessert
Parents get the best Prime-Rib dinner in the area for $25 a person. Pre-pay only, since space is limited in the venue. We have 70 kids on the roster and if each bring 2 parents that puts us at 210, plus the 14 coaches and their 8 wives, we end up with 232 people. Venue holds 250 max.
