Wow...Michigan is getting a beat-down by USC! Where's all the "Michigan should be #2" noise now?

I think it really hurts the Big 10 getting embarrassed in the Rose Bowl...
Wow... 31 - 18...
ANd this is suppose to be the #2 team in the nation?
That offense was pathetic, until they were down by 19...
All I'm sayin is...
USC lost to Oregon St... UCLA... and came from the WAC 10...
And they kicked UM's butt! 8)
The Big 10 is lucky as hell that PSU got that fumble on their 15 and took over... And blessed that time ran out on Arkansas...
Is it just me... or did UM's lost put an inordinate amount of pressure on O state?

I do not think this puts any more pressure on Ohio State. Without the unforced errors OSU had against Michigan than that score would have been very similar to the Rose Bowl. Michigan is a good team but was overrated this year. That defense shows it can not hold up when facing two of the better offenses in the nation.

Yeah, after watching USC against UCLA and OSU, I figured Michigan was going to walk away with this one. They're getting flat-out knocked around right now.

Hey... they got beat.
Most disappointing thing to me was the lack of 2nd half adjustments - 1st half was pretty even (minus the sacks). Not sure why Michigan didn't start to blitz more on D when getting picked apart in the zones - or why they didn't go to a shotgun quicker (something I kept screaming for in the 1st half).
All season long the weak link in the Michigan D was the secondary (50-something in pass D) - and it showed tonite against what was billed as perhaps the top set of recievers in the country.
It's like the Cubs and the World Series - Michigan and the Rose Bowl.
BTW... the fire Carr banter already started on the talk radio circuit.

Most disappointing thing to me was Michigan's running game. Mike Hart had rushed for at least 90 yards in every game and Michigan had the #1 rushing offense in the Big 10. Today they couldn't block anybody. I never thought I would say this, but USC's defense completely out toughed Michigan's offense up front. And on the other end USC's offense shredded the Michigan secondary and USC's O-line did a good job in protection for most of the game. I think USC might be the second best team in the country. I felt Michigan was #2 coming into today, but they proved they didn't deserve that ranking today.

I am not a big 10 homer, but is it fair for Iowa to play Texas...in Texas? For Michigan to play USC...at the Rose Bowl?
All I have heard all week is how the Big 10 sucks and the SEC is great. In the 2 bowl games today that were not blatant home field advantage for a team, Penn St. beat Tennessee and Wisconsin beat Arkansas. Enough with the bashing, just let the teams play.
Boy, I do sound like a homer.

Give me a break. Arkansas was flagged foe 135 yards in penalties to 35 for Wisconsin. Talk about one sided.

Wisconsin has been a very disciplined team all year. ONe of the reasons why, despite their talent level, they finished 12-1. The refs in these games are from other conferences. If it seemed one-sided on the part of Wisconsin, maybe it was because Arkansas made a lot of mistakes...not because the Wisconsin pays the officials well.

Wisconsin won hands down. USC's strength (WRs) exposed MU's weakness.
(and putting 1000 !'s makes a thread hard to read)
I also think it's difficult to judge the strength of a team after they have a 4-5 week break. It's very unique in sports. Basically, you have a mini off season leading up to a one game schedule. Coaches get a scheme for 4 weeks instead of one. Players get to rest their bodies for 4 weeks. Just think all these games could have had different outcomes 4-5 weeks ago.

Hey you're not going to hear a peep out of me. USC was clearly the better team. UM did not show up to play at all. I agree with the comment about the second half adjustments. I understand a committment to the running game, but Henne was almost unstoppable when he was getting protection, I thought UM should have gone to the air earlier. I think however that the game shows more clearly how much of an upset the UCLA-USC game was, rather then how overrated UM is or was. USC should have played in the Nat'l Championship game. And the Big 10 is currently 2-0 against the SEC (3-0 in a matter of days). Interesting..or am I going to hear how Tennessee and Arkansas are not two of the better teams in the SEC now? But, just to reiterate, UM got flat out beat. Period. Hats off to USC.

Have to agree I was disappointed in UM. BUT how do you get up to play in an "also ran" game when you were probably believing you were going to get a rematch in the title game? I still say it is not possible for you to drop in the polls when you do not play. You would be bitching the same argument if it was reversed.

Ohio State and LSU should be playing each other...now that would be a great game!
