Decent size - HS is around 800-1500 No neighboring towns - only population source for a ways Success in the past - puts fb into the town collective consciousness Conservative - more likely to say "Do as Coach says"
A few ideas off the top of my head.

somewhere I want to coach....
I would say somewhere that values extracurriculars particularly football, where little kids WANT to play for the "mascots" when they grow up, and somewhere where more than just a handful of parents and students show up to support the kids.

I'd also love to coach in one. Our High School cross country team has 40-60 kids every year and usually gets 2-3 Footballers leave to join them. Bizarre to me. Most of our consistently top sports are the individual ones. We have pretty good success also alot of the time but it is hard. Our TEAM sports are usually worse. And with them, a high percentage just play that sport.

As I mentioned in the referred topic, size is irrelevant.
-Fans show up at 4:30 to spread out their blankets to save their spot. -All the little kids wear Mascot HS replica jerseys instead of some NCAA/NFL replica. -The food in the concession stand is worth the price of admission. -The band performs for the football team. -Lettermen's jackets are prized possessions. -Free hair cuts at the barber shop after a win. -JV games look like varsity games in the stands, just no band. -Amen Corner can be heaven or hades depending on the out come. -Pregame meals are relative feasts/banquets put on by parents. -The local pizza shop/sandwich shop/gas station that for some reason stays open on game night, tunes in the police scanner to the coach's head set frequency to listen to the game. -Locker rooms are temples/shrines to the feats of past teams. -Recess at the elementary school is a constant game of 'kill the man with the ball'. -Momma knows the reads for the inside veer. -The wishbone is not a 'cute' goal line formation. -The single wing is not something that was installed because the QB got hurt. In fact it doesn't have to be 'installed' at all. -A football is the most cherished birthday present a boy can get. -When an old timer says, "Billy's daddy was one hades of a player in his day.", another pipes in with "And his granddaddy was too". -You can tell how good a team will be by looking at the roster and counting the number of Subers, Ashleys, Foggys, or Bryants. -There is no such thing as a 'Throw back jersey'. -When a coach needs something for the team, all he has to say, "We need to a new XXXX", all the booster club says is "How much?" -Painting the game field is bigger pregame experience than College Game Day. -The HC's wife gets asked by the local car dealer to come help out during the summer in the office, and then after working 2 weeks, gets 'let go' and given the keys to a new truck as her severance pay. -On road games, the parking lot is full of cars, trucks, and vans decked out with flags and stickers; ready to follow the team bus. -For the pretty little girls, there is no bigger prize than being in the Homecoming Court. -You really think the song "Boys of Fall'' was written about your school. -The kids coming out for JV already know how to 'shoot their hooks' and 'roll their hips'. -The OL always gets to get on/off the bus first and eat first at every team meal. -#67 is just as prized a number on a jersey as #12.
