Long Island, NY High School Program...I have 3 varsity assistants 2 @ $5300 & 1 @ 4,800; 2 JV coaches earn $4,800, 4 MS coaches (2 Teams) earn $3800. No differences for coordinators, no summer pay, no weight room stipend. Nothing associated with longevity and pay increases are negotiated per contract.

$3700 is my stipend but I give it back to the program as I do not need it. My pay usually goes to paying for clinics and videos.

Michigan schools I've split a stipend my 1st paid season with another coach $900 of the $1800.
As a Varsity assistant at another school I started about $1700 and progressed to $2300.
I think I'm getting $2100 this year at the school where I am now a Varsity Assistant.

Stipend for me in NC in three different counties has averaged 2000 a year. My current county gives us a pre-season stipend and if what realdawg holds up I will get a little more this year since we are in second round already.

I made around $4,700.00 before taxes this season as an assistant coach at a Class B (division 3) school. It was my third season at this school and they pay based on a percentage of your teaching salary.

Here is a link from the State newspaper. They usually do this about once every other year or so. You can peck around and see what coaches makes base/teacher salary and stipend. www.thestate.com/coachpay/

In Oklahoma we get a flat stipend, really depending on school size. I work at a bigger school, so I get $5,000 for a varsity asst. and coordinators get $6800. All of us on staff make an additional $3,000 in the summer.

$5000 in Washington State - in Portland, OR metro area. Extra $$$ for playoffs. We are very lucky and are able to attract good coaches because of the pay difference.

Wow I need to move, I coach in Michigan as the OC/Asst Head and i get $1,000. All our assistants get 200-400. We are at a very small private school but still i see some assts with 3k+ i don't if many in Michigan make that. Good thing we do it for the kids and not the money. I'd do it for free and wouldn't think twice.

back when I was an assistant I know I got around $1800.....
amazed that there is the kind of funding and support, etc, for some of these salaries. Great for those coaches and schools, etc.
As a HC this year I got basically $3,100ish.

The first district I was in when I was given a full assistants stipend it was $3400. The new district I'm in we get $2700, doesn't matter if you are a coordinator or not. I believe the HC gets around $4500, but not positive.

Geez looks like i need to consider moving again!! LOL
NC- private school as a HC I get a whopping $1500 (but we are a small school) NC- public school Asst. coach I think I had maybe around $1200 NC- public school HC can make around $3000 (may vary from county to county though)
GA- private school there was no "stipend" it was actually all lumped into my contract which was negotiable.
FL- private school it varied from school to school. Highest as an Asst. was maybe $1800
We all know we are underpaid by a mile.....too bad they dont pay coaches by the hour!!!

got a friend that is a asst coach in KY makes 1500 at a 5A or 6A HS
when I was in HS our girls basketball coach made 60000-70000 a year (salary + coaching stipend with roughly 10-15 years of teaching experience). we were a "football school" that went to state every year between 1999-2006 so I'm guessing that the football coach made more than that

In Michigan public schools it all comes down to local bargaining units and contracts (for now).
So there is no "average."
I think I make $0.37 an hour. Actually lose money the deeper we go in playoffs.

Rural Public school here in KY of about 720 kids.
I make $10,800 as the HC, and......I have $32,400 (including a $2,800 weight room stipend) to split up amongst the assistants however I see fit. For the sake of the thread, I have 6 paid assistants, with the highest being TWO guys @ 7,400 w/ the lowest being $3,500.

I forgot to mention that in GA, the public school stipends can be serious money. The county I lived in, but didnt work for as i was in a private school, they would pay you extra on your stipend if you had won a state championship as an assistant or HC. Add that along with some booster clubs and you could have a HC or OC/DC making well over 10K for a coaching stipend. What i have yet to hear from are those of yall in Texas or SC? ? I always hear coaches in those states make 50-80K and ONLY coach without any teaching responsibilities? Let me know if this is fantasy or true please!!

No doubt. Michigan born and raised, and would love to come home, but not with all of the nonsense going on up there. I think I'll stick around in Utah for a while. I made about $2,000 this past year here in Utah as a varsity assistant. Double what I made in North Carolina.
