Hey all,
I'm trying to figure out how to learn to break down film. The biggest problem I have is trying to find source videos. I'm pretty fresh out of college and I'm not rolling in money so I can't utilize the NFL rewind package. I obviously don't have a big stash of film to trade either.
I've found some videos on youtube that cut out all the filler but it isn't from the all-22/end zone views. I think worst case I can start with that but the other issue with that is it's hard to slow down or get it back to the start of the play. Does anyone have any advice on how to either get my hands on some actual game tape or utilize these youtube videos?
Once I do start to watch film though, what's the best method to diagram plays? I've seen posts about hand drawing or using programs like Visio or Powerpoint. Of course, each coach has his own methods, but what do you use and why?
I think eventually I'd like to get into coaching but I'd like to be able to have more experience knowing what I'm looking at before I can go find a local school and try to volunteer some help.

This is pretty awesome. Thanks. Is there a way to slow down the videos or do you just have to rewatch it over and over again if there's something in partciular you want to see in detail?

For $70 you can watch the All 22 angle (Coaches view). The Coaches view is what makes this a great deal. Same camera angle coaches get from the pressbox and the endzone film. Seems like a really good deal. Im probably going to get it in the off season. gamerewind.nfl.com/nflgr/secure/packages?ttv=1

Sorry I didn't see that you had already put down that you've seen that the NFL rewind is out there. I hear you about not a ton of cash flow, I will be asking the wife for a early Christmas present.

The all-22 thing is pretty legit. I can remember trading VHS tapes of grainy NFL clips years ago; different world we live in now. It'd be nice to see CFB conferences do something similar.
