Watching h.s. or ncaa...what was the trendiest ( good or bad) thing that you noticed? I thought two bowl seasons ago, we would see more Diamond formation following Oregon but I was lil surprised not to see more....how about the trends noticed this last weekend?

How about GT running almost NO option tonight? What up with that?

I have seen a TON of teams going spread... and ones that have been doing it for a few years all moving toward the tailback behind the QB... not pistol alignment with QB moved up, QB at 5, RB at 7-9... often with a "Full back" offset to one side of the QB where a spread RB would normally align
I personally don't like doing this and a couple local "spread gurus" have been trying to convince me for 2 years that putting the tailback behind the QB is the answer to every problem under the sun, but I just do not buy it
Team we are scouting this week is in 2 back most of the time with this alignment, and of their 3 films I have to scout them , every opponent does the same thing on offense, single back 8 yards or so from ball, behind the QB, and often move a slot WR into the backfield as a "fullback"
Im watching this team on film and the poor RB is getting killed in the backfield because his OL can't block that long... He has to run about 9 yards a snap, just to get back to the LOS
Also seems like our entire non league schedule decided to run only odd fronts
3-4 at scrimmage 3-4 week 1 3-3 stack week 2 3-4 week 3

We are getting a lot more heads up looks on defense (3-3, 3-4, 5-2, 4-4 stack with heads up tackles/ends) We've always had dline in gaps so it's a bit different for us. Offensively, pretty much the same

How about GT running almost NO option tonight? What up with that? And with a heavy dose of pistol spread looks in the 4th quarter! What's wrong with PJ!?

Looked like he was panicking and ditching his base. Paid for it in the end.

GT may not have had QB pull and keep or pitch but doesn't mean they weren't running Option.
Every time they ran Midline or IV even if it was give it was Option.

I only got to see the fourth quarter, but until the end (and even then) I saw a steady dose of option.

Yeah, there was more in the fourth. The second and third had a lot of rocket and some really random stuff. Looked like a lot of called dives off an option look.
