www.quotegarden.com/index.htmlCowards never started and the weak died along the way. I've never lost a game because I didn't have enough plays. Prince Humperdink: To the death! Westly: No! To the Pain! Prince: I don't think I'm quite familiar with that phrase. Speed kills, but strength punishes. There are no half-hearted champions. Victory requires payment in advance. X's & O's are the easy parts. It's never crowded along the extra mile. I've been collecting quips and quotes for several years now, got a lot from tag lines here and on other boards, books, articles, quote sites, etc.

I like to have a theme running through the quotes I use, so I've taken a lot from The Art of War by Sun Tzu. It's a hugely quoted book, with a lot of great lessons about preparation, effort, planning, knowing the enemy, understanding yourself, etc.
I bought some nice copies of the book too, and give these to players as rewards for certain things. It all starts with the playbook was has a quote on the cover: "Win the war, then fight the war"
There are tonnes in there: "Anyone who excels in defeating his enemies triumphs before his enemy's threat become real"
“All warfare is based on deception.”
For the weight room: “Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win”
Extra effort: “Can you imagine what I would do if I could do all I can?”
Scout teams: “To know your Enemy, you must become your Enemy.”
For coaches: “Treat your men as you would your own beloved sons. And they will follow you into the deepest valley.”
