On the day of your game (or maybe at a team dinner the night before) before the gameday preparation really starts, invite the parents (and parents only) to your school and give them a scouting report on the upcoming game. Nothing too involved but some information which might add to their enjoyment of the game, which players on the other team to look for, important matchups maybe and what kind of defense and offense the other team runs. Suggested donation of $5 but nothing required, all going back into the program.
What do you guys think?

you know, I have often found that if I need some thing, having a parents meeting and just asking is the best way to go about it.
I do know a team which has a dinner like you are talking about on thursday nights but the parents are incharge of it. they watch film, talk about he up coming game and eat dinner. this coach also prints his scouting report for the community in the weekly paper. this way every one knows what is going on .

great idea... We tried something like this last year and it was a smashing success...and very enjoyable (if you don't mind folks asking questions about what you are doing). We had a Sunday night pizza buffet where we show the previous Friday's game going over things they may have missed, or going over what we are trying to do on a particular play. Then we can briefly go over the next week's opponent. I like the scouting report idea...good stuff. That'd be nice to have. The boosters were in charge of the profits for this thing...so it was a breeze, but really kept the parents and community involved. thread in-depth about the program

We ahve talked about doing this for a couple of years and decided to kick it off next week. I was kind of worried about the responce but so far the buzz is pretty good. All of your posts are encouraging!
