This may be stupid and I cannot believe I do not know this, I should. In high school, is it the same distance from sideline to hash, hash to hash, and then hash to sideline? Should be something like 53 feet 4 inches, 160 total. Am I correct?
Thanks

9 yards from sideline to top of the numbers
sideline to hash mark is 53 feet 4 inches
53 feet 4 inches between the hashes
sideline to sideline is 160 feet

We bought one of those field marking kits and were at the game field last week putting it in. While double checking our measurements we found out that our field is 5 feet too narrow, only 155 feet wide! It's got concrete markers at the 4 corners and for the hashes that we always used to pull our string and measure from, but when we put the tape to it we got a small field. Sideline to hash is right on 53-4 but hash to hash in the middle is 48 and change.

You must have slow, plodding, physical players. Stretching the field horizontally would be tough. Do you keep your grass 4 inches high also?

Sideline to hash is right on 53-4 but hash to hash in the middle is 48 and change. my "measurement" was from the same points ... the "middle" of the hashes.... 48+ is accounting for the size of the hash marks themsevles which are typically 2' x 4 "

I believe the tops of the numbers of the numbers are at 9 yards from the sideline according to NFHS markings. We messed this up for our first game last year and painted the bottoms at 9 yards.
