It is time to bring up this annual question...
What do you guys show in our pre season scrimmage? What do you not show?
Reasoning behind each...
We have gone back and forth about what to show offensively as a staff and I see valid points on each side of the fence
First opponent will be at the scrimmage scouting us tomorrow night...
I know many will say, just run your stuff, screw it get better at what you do...
Have a couple kids banged up that we will likely hold out, not hiding them but just trying to keep them healthy for the season
Formation and play wise some coaches think we just show them 2x2 and trips, and that way they wont be as well prepared to adjust to any of our other sets... TE sets, Goal Line "heavier" sets
I am leaning towards running all of our formations, actually I might even tell a kid to move here or there, run something we do not even do in terms of normal alignment but just for a play or two... My thinking is this... it takes me one word or sentence to move a WR or TE or RB around... but they might spend a total of 30 minutes out of their practice week on it, covering it...
Which would take way from the time they can put into stopping our "base plays" that I really want to run
Do you try to set plays up? Running base things a ton, but saving the counter, or "constraint" for the game...
Do you show it all , again so they have to cover it all in practice and end up short changing themselves in other areas
I would just like to hear others views on it and why
I dont think there is a "right" answer
