We are looking at how to better organize our halftime. My question for you coaches is how do you organize your 15 minute half?

Gotta meet quickly as a staff, gotta break down into O staff and D staff. Gotta have time to get the adjustments to the kids.

Staff meets very quickly as a whole....then off and def staff quickly...players are watering, etc...individual coaches have a few minutes to talk to position players...def has a few minutes as a whole if needed....last 3-4 minutes are mine.

Each kid grabs a Gatorade outside the locker room. We do not have cups and people running around. The coaches meet as we walk to the dressing room and if we need to get on the board we do. The players will go to the restroom during this time. Two coaches take care of injuries and equipment in the field house. One stays on the field for injuries with the trainer and equipment problems. This helps save time with helmets and shoulder pads. I will go over all adjustments on the board with the team and ask the position coach to expand sometimes. Then the special teams coach will make sure we have covered all replacements. Then say a few things before we go out. Loosen up.

I only have15 minutes. As the team leaves the field, coaches gather during the walk to go over quick points to cover. I address the team quickly, then we break. 3 minutes with offensive position coaches, 3 minutes with defensive position coaches. 3 minutes to address team again and make any big adjustments. The rest of the time is their time to continue hydrating and to get loose again.

There are things at half time that need to happen (kids hydrate, a few need to pee) give them about five minutes for this; take this time to discuss with other coaches anything you need to. Although I doubt you are waiting specifically until half time to make adjustments; if something is wrong midway in the 1st qtr you aren't gonna wait 20 minutes to fix it, fix it on the sidelines during the game.
Use the half time to let the kids recompose themselves, the game goes fast and its easy for them to get caught up in the flow. Allow individual coaches to meet with their players for about two to three minutes, then bring them together in large groups (offense and defense) so coordinators can reiterate game plans, remind them of their assignments and of things to expect. Save some time at this point for any special teams discussion.
HC usually takes a minute or so to get the kids back up and inform them of anything he needs to, then its back on the field to stretch.

It seems like everyone does the same thing. But specificly we gather as a defensive staff before going down into the locker room. A real quick meeting on what we need to do in the second half. Then position coaches talk with the players.
I talk reiterate what we as a staff said needs to be done. Then go into specifics for each player what they need to watch for/do better.
If one side of the ball needs to chalk talk then unit will gather around one of the dry erase boards.
