Whats the best football helmet - with $ no object. We have a couple of parents that want to buy their sons the best helmet money can buy. Currently we have the riddell revolution which was rated 4 on the virginia tech system. I know riddell makes the 360 and revolution speed and that rawlings had a highly ranked one -- but I didn't see any testing on the Xenith.
So again, what is the best/safest helmet out there?

And it goes without saying, make sure the players understand that even with the biggest flashest helmet they can't lead with their heads.

As I said, kind of shouldnt need saying but these parents (and kids) will think this flash new helmet turns them into superman. Don't get me wrong, I own my own gear because DNA pro is a rocking helmet. Light and cool which is why I bought it. that said I still hurt my neck after a bad hit up on Sunday. Just make sure the parent understands this especially if you recommend a particular helmet. just cover your ass. (also, seriously hanging out for the vengeance to come out)

Best helmet is one that fits perfectly. I'd take a 4 star helmet that fits perfectly over a 5 star that almost does.

I am a big fan of the Xenith X1 because of the fit. It is designed to mold itself to the wearers head instead of using air bladders. It is also an extremely comfortable helmet.

The Xenith is the Dr. Pepper of helmets. Kids either really like them, or they really don't! Not much in between...

"Our kids did not like the Xenith helmets. They found it uncomfortable..." That's because they couldn't immediately let all of the air out to make it "Comfortable" (i.e. unsafe) when you weren't looking. I believe the vast majority of "helmet problems" are improper inflation. Watch any NFL game. Helmets are not designed to taken on and off like a baseball cap! I would constantly check our kids and their helmets were too loose. When asked, they complained that it was too tight, so they let air out. I don't know a lot about Xenith but I like the fact that the kids can't change the size.

We did the Xenith thing a couple of years back. We bought about 30 of them.
Most kids really didn't them. They'are very heavy and uncomfortable.
The Schutt 4D and Ridell Speed are the most popular helmets with our kids.
