In the wake of "The Sky is falling!" frenzy over concussions, does any one know anything about, or have experience with, helmets that have soft outer padding?
I know they were tried by some college teams in early '60s but discarded as ineffective and cost prohibitive.
Is there any new research-science out there, any new models being tested?

Blb don't know if you missed the topic but scroll down to "pro cap or guardian cover" this talks about the soft padding on helmets.

Oh gotcha, I went to guardian site just to read up on them. From what I can tell these outer pads are not intended for game use, just practice. Sorry enough hijacking of the thread.

And I got a concussion. I thought I was pretty good but probably sucked, too.
