There's another thread about gifts from the coach or coaching staff for graduation seniors. There have been other threads on the topic so I was wondering how common this is. I've never been on a staff that does this. It's never even occurred to me.

I don't think it is common as a staff but it is common for players that really liked their position coach or head coach to send a graduation announcement to that coach. Very few recieve a gift from me unless they are related to me or someone on staff.

I always make it a point to go to the school graduation ceremony and shake each graduating player's hand afterwards, but no gift. I do this good season or poor, good player or problem player.

Two of my coaches go every year to grad (one's a teacher) and I go when I can, but we don't give gifts.

As a program no we dont. At my old HS when we graduated, we recieved a plaque with a mini helmet and a little plate with our name and # on it. Now, if I get invited to one of our kids graduation parties, I will frame 5x7 picture of them in action from one of our games and give it to them.

I have never missed a graduation ceremony, I seek out each player and shake their hand afterward.
I also attend their open house if they invite me and write a personalized card for each of them. The gift thing is just not possible. I don't see any way that I could give every athlete a gift... First I am not sure it is legal and I secondly I would be broke....

When I was in school all of the seniors got gifts: our letter jacket and a portrait drawn by a booster. They were from the booster club, though, and we got them at the banquet. I'm glad to see that we're not alone in not giving gifts. The guys who posted about graduation gifts said it in such a matter of fact way that I wondered if we were the oddballs. Well, the poll is still pretty new.

Like fantom, we give them their "gift" at the end of the season banquet.
They get to keep their home jerseys as their gifts.

We gave them a gift at the banquet. I always go to the graduation whether I was an HC or not... I was planning to do a senior picture w/ all of them in their gowns and place it in the program next year..
