to the coach who has kids from "low-income" families.... i had to ask, how exactly do they have cars? we are an inner-city program and stealing within the school is widespread. however, as a staff we agree that there is NOTHING lower than a person who robs his teammates. therefore, you get caught, youre gone. no discusion. we have security cameras in the school and this past year had to rewind them back to see who entered the locker room while we were at practice.... someone was missing a gold chain and a few kids had money taken and bus cards. turned out the kid was new to the school, and didnt even realize the cameras were there when he snuck in. caught in the act, basically smiling at the camera. we got some money and the bus cards back but no chain. the thief had told us he was mising practice that day to go see his mom in the hospital, turned out to be a lie obviously. the kid was immediately thrown off the team, and for the next week i heard he had to face some "street justice". bottom line.... the locker room HAS to be a safe place for our kids, who are surrounded daily by danger and violence. we refuse to allow anyone disrupt the safe haven we have created for our team.
