I heard of a HFC that made his assistants run 100 yard sprints whenever the offense fumbled. He had a couple of older/bigger guys on staff and was obviously trying to run them off, but has anyone else ever heard of such a thing?

THAT IS AWESOME!! I had a guy on my staff 2 years ago that I should of done that to, only bad part is we probably would have had to give him mouth to mouth.

FYMF
If you don't trust the guy to do his job properly, YOU are the idiot for hiring him.
If you can't trust someone to do their job, it's better off not having that position filled.
I'm all for accountability, but I think some take the punishment/reward thing a little too far / seriously (as the be-all-end-all).

The real question to me was that the best idea the HC had to solve his teams fumble problem. If so, then being run off might not be a bad thing.
Just for the record right after he told me to run my next words out of my mouth might go something like this "you can kiss my whole a..". Trust me that might take some time. Long enough for him to come up with a better idea.

I should make myself run every time we screw up...then I could lose some of this weight!

Yeah, I think that I would have to tell the HC to go Play with himself on that one.

I was on a staff where any one swearing (coaches, players, managers and even the ad once) get 25 up downs, payable on the spot.

How about you have to run: 1. Onto field for practice 2. From drill to drill 3. Off the field after practice
the players and the Coach

Airman, was that 25 per cuss word or just 25 per complete sentence of profanity? I might have been in trouble with that guy lol!

here is my thing about swearing, if you call a kid a mother fer, why should he not be able to say the same thing back to you?
coaches will say it is about respect for a kid not to swear back, well is it respectful to call a kid a mother fer?
I say swear at the kids all you want, if you can handle it come back in your direction.
treat others how you would want to be treated is my motto. I played college ball for a foul mouth, physcial and mentally abusive coach. our coach like to play head games with people. those type people like it when it works for them but when it is done to them, they get the most upset.
25 per cuss word, player, coach or manager. it solved staff and player swearing problems.

Hmmmm? I'm not talking about picking out individuals for a personal tongue lashing but just a general rambling string of loose profanity not aimed at anyone in particular! And MF is really not in my list of personal favorite terms. But, you're probably right about setting a good example and all. I did have an occasion where my FB got a warning from the officials for cursing on the field. They brought the kid over to the sidelines and told me if he didn't quit he'd be tossed from the game. When I asked who he was talking all the trash to on the other team, the ref responded " Oh he's not cursing at the other team but his own team" We were in a close game and apparently the o- line was taking turns missing blocks and the kid was really fired up and screamed at them" If any of you p---ys misses another block, I'm gonna kick your f---in asses! I was gonna chew him out for this right then but figured since he took the words right outa my mouth, what the hey! After the FB's motivational talk, we blocked better and eventually won this game. Thats 75 up downs or lots of wind sprints but darn well worth it and I'd have gladly done them with him lol!

It is my policy that each swear word costs the offending coach $1 that goes in a pool to cover our end of season party. My DC came in once last year with a $20 and said put this in the jar its been a bad day! But overall it has been a good thing. The kids all know about it and don't let any of us slip without paying up.

I do, sort of. At practices, whenever I make my players run long distances, I run with them. I do it a little bit different though. We all run in shoulder to shoulder line around the field. We must all go the same speed as the slowest man. If anyone goes ahead or behind, we jog back to the starting point and do it again. Really helps with teamwork

I think punishment for swearing is not needed, but you do need to make sure that you do not swear on the football field especially in front of the kids. It's give the wrong impression to our kids and we all know that kids pick up everything we do as adults.
On a side note, if we had a rule where if the offense fumbled than the offenisve coaches would have to run, we would fumble every play in practice, lol. Our kids would love to see us run those 100 yard sprints with them. They are always complaining and talking trash about us not being able to run with them anyway. I'm glad we don't have a rule like that, lol.
Sincerely, Coach D

i think it is more important to be stronger then your players. if you can bench press 3 bills, you are stronger then most of your players.

You can win with cussing and you can win without, so why do it? Show the kids that you are disciplined enough to change your habits.
