Just wondering what others do for their "preseason" practice. This is once school starts and your scrimmage is maybe a month away and your first "official" game is after that. You have put in your base in spring, kids have grasped it pretty well. You refresh their memory, but do you schedule your practice pretty similar to spring or something different, would love to read as many examples as possible.

Florida has a rule where you are only allowed to be in Helmets and shorts for the first 3 days. This year the start of pre-sesaon is Monday July 31. You have 3 or 4 weeks before your first official game (we play 10 games over an 11 week period with one bye week). You are also allowed to schedule a "Classic" game or a "Jamboree" of 2 quarters during the 3rd week of pre-season. This game does NOT count in the standings.
We are a smaller private school so instead of 2 a days during pre-season, we have one long practice from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. It helps our kids with transportation issues. Our schedule goes something like this for an Offensive day - we rotate offense and defense during the week:
3:00 Dynamic stretch 3:05 Agility 3:10 Circuit - 4 stations of fundamentals 3:25 Indvidual Offense - OL, QB, RB, WR 4:00 7 on 7 and Inside Game 4:20 Switch Groups (starters and #2's and #3's 4:40 Team Offense 5:00 Special Team (of the day)- skill groups, then team 5:30 Starters go to - weights, plyos, or classroom for video. #2's stay and work Team O vs air 6:00 Rotate Groups. 6:30 Conditioning. Lots of variety including running, sled, tire flips, tug of war, "gladiator", and the like. 7:00 Done.
We do this for one week and then move into our normal schedule of practice which is 3:30 PM to 5:45 PM. It works well for the kids and for the coaches. We have found we are all fresher and focused at the end of the week than when we were trying to have a morning practice and an afternoon/evening practice. Anyway, it works for us!

First day of official practice- we basically start over. We try to get everything we will do covered in the spring and summer (kind of a preview/summary). Once we actually start camp- we go through everything much more in depth- generally at a pace of 1 run series and 1 pass series per day (so for ex: run series might be our Buck series... buck sweep, trap and boot). If we do not have it in (thoroughly) by the 2nd Thursday, we will not run it in the first game. I've made exceptions... but this is the general rule.

In NJ we can start practicing as soon as the last spring sports championship is played.
Following that we will have a week of spring practice in shorts and T-shirts. This helps to gte football back on there mind if they were playing a spring sport.
Then during the summer we will practice on Tuesday and Thursday for two hours at night. First 30 hour is agility stations and conditioning. Next hour and half is split O and D. When the Varsity (Sr/Jr) are on D, the Soph/Frosh are on O, then we flip it after 45 minutes.
Once we are allowed to beginning official practice we will go one practice a day for 3 hours. Spliting it O/D/SPT. We will also have three scrimmages before our first game which is usually the first week of September.
