Done it two different ways. 1. used air paint cans which cost more money, but the clean up and quick availability is great. 2. used the paint machine that you have to mix in 5 gallon buckets, cost is a lot cheaper, and outcome of the field looks better, BUT mixing and cleaning can take a lot of time. So i guess it depends on what you prefer. We do everything for our field. I use string and lay out the logo I want then outline the string.

We use two field lazer paint machines. They work great but are a pain to maintain and clean. Still, I wouldn't trade them for aerosol.
We have an interesting tradition at our school. The daddys come out after Wednesday's practice and help us paint. They call it Paint Night. A few guys get food together and fire up the grill. We have a group that does the hashes and another group that paints the numbers. We just run out there after practice and get the grid painted. We have some other dads that help with whatever we need. It's great and a lot of fun. Also, they kill the fatted calf just about every week. BBQ chicken is always on the menu. But we also have steak, pork tenderloin, duck wraps, oysters, goat, slaw, beans, salad, cookies, and whatever else the guys can come up with. After we finish painting, all the men sit around and eat. People often stay out there til after 11 pm.

Do you have any openings? That sounds delicious.

The biggest advantage of playing our games at a city stadium- for all I know (or care), every Wednesday night they put out milk and cookies for The Paint Fairy.

My biggest shock in moving from MI to Va was that we have the 'privilege' of painting the practice and game fields. We use aerosol on the practice field and the Pioneer sprayer on the game field. Our industrial arts teacher made some logo sentcils.

We have two coaches in the wt room every period. One of them-the one who is not the HC-is in charge of painting the field during the school day. He gets help from a couple of other programs, supporters of the program, and some random guys, and they find a few kids they can trust to do the numbers and hashes. We use the cans.

IDK, I'd have to ask the grounds keeper. I talked to myself and we still don't know what a logo looks like on a football field.

I went to menards and bought a huge blue tarp, took it to TribePride's pole barn and hung it from the rafters. Made a overhead of our helmet decal and used a projector to put the image up on the blue tarp. Traced the giant image and then cut it out. We now have our own stencil.
