In the lawsuit happy world of today, what do you guys do with your summer lifting/7-on-7 in regards to insurance?

The places that are hosting tournaments should have insurance... I know that we have to have insurance for any event we are hosting at our school, and if we are practicing at the school with high school students, the school's insurance covers us.

I use liability waivers. Players sign stating they are willingly participating and are aware of the potential for injury and do not hold the school/staff responsible.

Our school district requires that each kid have an AAU card, which covers us on liability.

Weightlifting held at school-we don't need insurance(school covers it). Private camp must have liability before the district will allow use of faciltities. Our 7on7 is tacked on camp insurance as part of camp.

Nobody enters the weight room without athletic clearance, part of which includes having insurance on file.
This is the same for any offseason camp or organized team activity. Clearance lasts for one calendar year.

any coach that does not have personal insurance is flirting with disaster. many coaches foolishly sign contracts with school district without representation. they think their teachers union is going to protect them.
me sense I am not a teacher I have my attorney write up a contract.

At my school (anything we do during the summer other than football camp) is considered "voluntary" and they did not have to be there. Insurance is on their own. I found this out my first year there when a kid dislocated his knee- bad timing!
