We have been Russell Uniforms (which I really like), but are going to be switching over to Nike. Somewhat of a school thing here. I was wondering if any coaches have experience with Nike Uniforms and their quality. We are getting a modified destroyer jersey and cuse pants. Part of deal is we get $2000 from Nike to spend on sideline apparel and spirit gear. Let me know your thoughts.

We had the Nike deal. Unis are straight garbage. After one year the jerseys were more torn up than our Russell ones were after FOUR. And they give you money BUT you have to pay list price for gear, not the normal coaches' discount price. So it is smoke & mirrors to get you into poorly made gear. CAUSE THEY KNOW YOU LOVE THE SWOOSH! LOL. Sorry to be a downer, bro.

We went with a deal through Under Armour. Just finished year one, and the unis are still looking great. We are purchasing our whites this season so we will be 100% UA at that point. I have heard both positives and negatives from coaches about the Nike, Under Armour, and Adidas "contracts".
We went with UA because the kids and parents LOVE IT. Is it that much better stuff... probably made in the same factory as the other stuff, but it has that logo on it so the kids and parents are more likely to buy it.

I've heard bad things from several different sources about Nike uniforms.

We just took the Nike deal, we are excited about it...what style jerseys did you guys get that were so bad? We're getting the Syracuse model.
I have heard nothing but good things about Nike...fellow coaches rave about them here.

Our Nikes are in great shape, we have had one set for five years and they are still holding up well (they are the cowboy model). We love them.

Surprised at that. We have a Nike "contract", which is more of an agreement. I think most of the stuff is top notch.
But, I would stray from the Destroyer jersey. It is one of the cheapest for a reason. We learned the hard way after buying them. We weren't pleased, so our rep gave us a deal on new ones so we purchased the Cowboy jersey last year and were really happy. After one year, there is nothing wrong with the, the fit is great, they look great and the kids love them.
Don't downplay how having nice stuff and certain logos is to getting kids excited and out for a program. Now, you may need to reshape some attitudes, but you also need the most talented kids possible out on the practice field.
We also have Invincible Warrior white jerseys for going on the fifth year and they have all held up great. The pants are wonderful too.
Plus, the coaching apparel and our "spirit" packs are top notch. We have had some spirit pack shorts rip in the past due to guys grabbing them when we are in shells, but our rep replaces those for free.

I also agree that you usually get what you pay for. We don't purchase the low-end jerseys for that reason. Plus our colors are Kelly-Green so we are required to get custom no matter who we go with since Kelly isn't used anymore.

OUr white Nike uniforms suck! Not happy at all.... After 10 games or so they are torn up as well....
For what you pay for their quality is not as good as others...
Not impressed and I will not be going back to them...

We were told that a replacement jersey was $250 during the season because the factory was set up for basketball and there was a setup fee to get a football jersey. I mean, come on, man!

Nike also changes their styles every time Oregon wants something new. When they do they put the old ones out of production which means no replacements after 4-6 years.

Have had Nike Cowboy jerseys, and they were not very good. Had a bunch to rip in 1st year. School did the contract thing. Not a huge fan with there uniforms. If I had to choose would probably go in a different direction.

We switched to Under Armour this past season and the feedback from the kids was very good. They also outfitted our coaching staff, which was great. Anytime we want anything additional, we'll put together an order, and our Rep gets us everything for a discounted price.

In my experience with multiple vendors(Nike, Riddell, Allison, and others) regardless of the "Style" or cut of the jersey you have many other options. Among them are the weight(thickness), cuff/neck style, and other things - all of which have an affect on both the price and the quality of the final product. So there are many versions of every brand and style in the end and I dont think most coaches/players are probably really aware of what they purchased.
I have had experience with Nike products with mixed results, we ended up going away from them because our sales rep sucked though not because we had complaints about the jerseys.
Sincerely, Joshua Norton
