I will probably be coaching at the same place this year. I'm just not sure in what capacity. I called the varsity offense this past season, but will probably get demoted down to head frosh-soph coach. Our head coach from last year got fired, so I would imagine that the new head coach will want to call his own plays.

I am waiting on what capacity I will be in next season. I know that I will be at the same school. Lot of politics, people not being able to make up their minds, way too many egos getting in the way. Should know for certain in a few weeks.

I have no idea where I will be coaching. I am hoping for a teaching job, but heck at this point in time I would take a full time TA job. If I go this route I will probley coach high school ball, other wise I will go back to where I am currently coaching and be stuck with a day time job I really don't like.

After 3 years as a position coach with an established, albeit fairly young staff, I was talking with a few 'other programs' about potentially taking a Coordinator's position. But, just got offered - and of course accepted - the Offensive Coordinator position for our team. It's great to get the word so early in the off season -- plenty of time to get the offense system together and nice to know where I'll be for awhile.

The HC at my school resigned. The district I am in doesnt pay well. The district just south of here DOES pay well. It has one of the best teams in the nation in that district. I am going to speak with their HC at the end of the week about coaching positions there. I am PRAYING that works out!!

wow, i feel lucky to know that'll i'll be in the same place next year. taking on some new responsibilities, video coordinator w/ DSV hopefully, and losing others, JV HC and OC also hopefully. As of now, I'll still be DL coach and special teams coordinator.

Count me among those waiting for something to happen. I am looking for a teaching and assistant coaching job in Kansas but not a lot of openings advertised yet. If that does not work out I have a pretty good situation here, not great but OK for now.

I've already been offered and accepted a teaching job and the D-coordinator position at my alma mater. Just waiting for board approval. Shouldn't be a problem.
Much different situation than last year when I didn't leave my old job until March 17th and didn't get offered another job until mid July. Kind of nice to be relaxed and getting into a good situation rather than rushing around just to find something.

I am blessed as I will be right back here in a superior job at a great school (with outstanding kids and administration) in an outstanding football town.

I am also one who has no idea where or what capacity I will be in next year. HC resigned this year and we are waiting for the AD to begin interviews. He doesn't seem in too much of a hurry though.

I am looking else where because of the finances involved plus I want to fall into a lesser role this year because of the birth of my son. I am currently the AD/HFC/HBC and an assistant track coach plus I teach pe. It is very time consuming. I would like to be an offensive coordinator( probably to young to get the spot) if not Ill take a job as a position coach and be happy. Would like to find a school where I don't have to coach another sport, although I am sure that is probably impossible. If nothing works out Ill stay here.

I am looking to move back closer to home. My wife and I are having our first child and I would like to be close to family. A few new head coaches just got hired in that area and I am going to try to speak with them. The reason that I am posting is because I am torn, I really want my kid to grow up like I did, but I love working with the staff that I am currently on and afraid that I will never work on a staff again that I like as much as I do with this staff. Yes, I am a young coach, but I still feel that this is a special staff. If you can shed some light on this your input would be very helpful.

Sounds like you got a tough one shs06. A lot of times comfort and happiness are worth staying for. If I didn't love this school that I currently work at so much I would have tried harder to find another job. In the end the comfort(especially with this being my first year as a teacher) was better for me but at some point we all have to think about our families. That is the reason that, although I love this school, I am aggresively pursing other openings. At the end of the day my family out weighed my desire to be comfortable. I was in the same situation this summer, minus the kid, and I decided to take less money to stay here and then the head coach ended up leaving. That's a tough one though. I want to move out to west texas with my wife and son but I don't want to leave family behind. Best of luck with your decision and in your job search and hopefully what I said helped you in some way.

I too am waiting. I have a set assistant job for next season, but I have applied for HC openings at four schools and have applied for some teaching openings at "name" programs in IL. Currently subbing so the goal is to find full time employment and hope coaching comes with it!

I will be back for my third year at my current school. I guess I am lucky that I have never had to worry about where I was gonna be year after year. I spent 9 years at the last school I was at all with the same HC who is a good friend. Now the HC at my current school has been my friend since we were 5 so I haven't had to worry about anything there the last few years. Both were private school and really let the HC's hire/fire as they saw fit didn't have to worry about school boards and all that. Looking back it has been pretty nice to have coached with guys who are good friends and who I have gotten along with.

Here is a question........
Do you...........
1) Go to the first available program (just to coach)?
2) Wait around for the "perfect gig" with a great tradition and program infrastructure?
3) Take the gig with the most responsibility / biggest challenge (to prove yourself)?
..........? (Personally, I'm faced with this decision, and am leaning toward #2, since I've gone the other routes before)
