Just a matter of opinion, but what truly seperates the spread from the run and shoot? Just looking for opinions

spacing of the slot WRs RnS = 1by1 of the OT SPREAD = on the hash
ROUTES...alot of the RnS concepts have built in rules and adjustments...
just started watching Mouse Davis' series on RnS. The route concepts overlap...

The way I see it "spread" is a certain type of formations or sets you run your offense from, while the run and shoot is a certain set of plays you run.

Shameless plug for my site...I just added a post about the "shoot."
The "spread" is a loose umbrella under which almost anyone who believes in the "speed in space" philosophy would likely fall under, whether they run, pass, or whatever. The run and shoot is very specific. It is more akin to the Airraid "system" - you can borrow parts of it but it was designed as a system, with formations, protections, routes, complementary plays, and drills all built towards it.

the run and shoot is a set of plays run from 2 sets in reality. wishbone theory, limited plays and formations equals max reps.
this carried over into the spread set, air raid and west coast offense. walt harris runs the switch route a lot from a twins open or 3 wr set in the west coast offense.
the spread as I see it is a dvide and conqure style offense. you spread the defense out adn then you attack it in the weak areas. not much different then a oneback zone offense. similar conepts, control the box, throw when matchups are a good. run when you have numbers.
