Think any of you championship winning coaches could post some pictures of your rings? Would love to get a collection of them to print out and hang in my weight room. Thanks

think it would be motivating to my kids to see that a lot of other people have them, and if we work our asses off in the weight room we can get one too....would work for me

Dude get as many rings as you can and put them up. Talk about winning a championship ALL THE TIME. Talk about winning a ring, trophy, and banner to put up in your gym FOREVER. The kids will believe it and they will do it. Dont let some haters keep you from doing something that you believe in. I'll get one my players to email me a pic of our big fat gold nugget and we would be more than glad for our ring to hang in your weightroom to motivate your players. Only thing is you got to email me your pic when you get yours. DEAL?

I think this is a great idea you had. I might even do it myself. Just get a ton of pictures of football championship rings. THe Strength coach from Texas is on this months AFM magazine's cover with a fistful of rings. Make a big collage and at the top put "Success- It has a nice RING to it". Virginia Tech sent out a poster like this a couple of years ago.

i'm not a hater of the idea. to me it just seems that its pumping other programs traditions instead of building your own. if you think it will motivate the kids in the right way, then go for it.

IMO kids seeing the ring (regardless of who it belongs to) would be a motivator. There is a lot of blood, sweat, and tears that go into "earning" one of those. To "See"it on a daily basis in the weight room would remind them why we are there, and would push them top work hard on days they are not feeling like it. Worked for us in college. I saw all the upperclassmen (on recruting visit) wearing the Gateway Champ Rings, and I busted my ass to make the top 56 so I could get my hands on one. By the time I was done I had 4 of them.

i think having something tangible for the kids to go for is good, but to me it seems that putting other team's accomplishments around leads to talking about how good they are, rather than focusing on how good we are. kinda like a coach that talks about how great it was at his last school, how much better the kids were, etc. like i said, though, if you really believe it will motivate the kids to that high a level, then by all means do it. here is a picture of every super bowl ring: www.jostens.com/sports/super_bowl.asp

i wouldn't want anyone else's championship rings or banners anywhere near my weight room. find something that your team did well and post it as a goal to beat year after year.

you guys are missing my point. it is not like we are putting a team we play's ring on the wall, no way. but i know 100% that when kids see what that ring looks like they will WANT one. most of them have never seen a HS championship ring, PERIOD. they have all seen my 1st Gateway ring, it never leaves my finger. The Gateway ring means nothing to them, they o not play in the Gateway...they do play in Class A Football in Iowa. SO, by putting pictures of the Iowa State Championship Ring on the wall, they will see what it is possible for them to have IF they pay enough of a price. I think it is a good idea, didn't say you had to. We have all kinds of goal boards, and records and stuff, this is just something else for them to see on a daily basis...

it's one thing to TALK about winning a ring.....showing them a VISUAL creates a visceral response....something them there folks call, "visualization"....
Whatever works to motivate the athletes is a good thing, IMO....go for it , Moosie & Knighter...wish I had some rings to show ya.

I don't know who said it, but I'm a firm believer in it: "If you can't talk about it, you have not business attempting to do it."
I think this is a great idea. It gets your players talking about it and to have something in front of their eyes on a consistent basis should only fuel the fire! In my 4 years as head coach we have put two banners in the gym and a trophy in the case. These are things the players can see on a daily basis and you better believe I'm always talking about them and encouraging players to bring more hardware home!
I'll take pictures of rings also, PM me or send to mosier3@iowatelecom.net - and tvt50 I'll get you a pic of ours in the near future!
