I'm watching the game and on the kick off return for a TD by Florida you can see Ohio State QB on the field...
How can your starting QB also be starting on special teams?
I mean this is not HS or Euro ball... Am I missing something here?

Lots of instances of duplicate numbers at schools. Are you sure it is the OSU QB...or just saw the same number.

I think it was Georgia I saw earlier in the season that had both of their RB's wearing the same number. If there is no chance they'll be on the field at the same time, not a bad idea to hide tendencies if you ran the ball or pass protected with one more than the other.

When Terrelle Prior was a Freshman at OSU there was a starting Safety that also wore #2. So when Prior took over as the starting QB they had a #2 starting on both sides of the ball.
You see this a lot in college because they have so many players. I'm pretty sure the rule only states you can't have the same number on the field at the same time.

Haha here's a telling anecdote. John L. Smith had Drew Stanton (who was supposed to be Michigan state's QB the next year) covering kicks in the bowl game against Nebraska. He blew his knee out. Thus , the term "John L. Smith"ing it was born.
