What do you do, other than typical lifting and abilities, to develop football skills?

Coach-
One thing we started doing just this off season that was explained and recommended to me by a friend who is a strength and conditioning consultant is what we call "skill." We still do our lifting and speed, agility, and power training during and after school based on student schedules. After school when we are finished with our workouts we take them through we do a 10-15 minute segment where we break up into positional groupings. During these we have a lineman group, LB/DB group, offensive backs, and WR. Each coach in charge of these groups works on some type of skill development that is associated with the position. Obviously we cannot "coach" them and do anything with footballs but we do all we can to develop skills. For example with the LB/DB group they do a lot of back pedal, angle dropping, partner reaction stuff. I think if we can develop some of the skills it takes them several weeks to master during two a days we are ahead of the game.
You just have to be creative. Ultimately we are still working on speed and agility during this time but making it very specific to what they play. It has been pretty neat to see how I think it will help a lot.
