What's the convention like? I have never been and I've wondered what exactly is there for a coach.

CoachBrown, you should go, then you would have a post for the "you might be a football coach if".

I love the convention and went the last three years. Unfortunately I will miss it this year.
As for the best parts, I believe the GA forum is great for young coaches looking to grow in the profession. Also, being an AFCA member means you get the Summer Manual, which is very similar to a Coach of the Year manual.

I'm going down. Pissed my flight on Sunday has been changed twice now though. I was origionally scheduled to get to San Antonio around noon, then it got pushed back to mid afternoon, and now it's mid evening. I've got to work on that. I'd love to socialize/pick brains with anyone interested while in Texas, just let me know. I'm hunting for gun run info, no-huddle/communication ideas, screens, and practice ideas while at the clinic.

I live in San Antonio. Thought about going but only for the chance to try and land a College job, or a full-time job of some sort. Haven't decided if I'm going or not but if there is some good feedback about going, I'd be open to talking some football. I saw that someone is looking for some no huddle communication help and I would always be interested in learning more and sharing what I know an have learned

I'd love to, but it'll have to be in a more midwestern location for me to make it. Kicking myself for not going when it was in Nashville recently.

Nashville is as "Midwestern" as it gets.
Who wants to go to Chicago for a convention in January?

They really should hold these in more convenient locations, like Maine, or Vermont. Heck, I'd settle for Plattsburgh or Lake Champlain.

CoachBrown, you should go, then you would have a post for the "you might be a football coach if". Haaaa, your right, but then I'd have to start another thread titled "you might be an ex-football coach if...." If it's in Nashville next year, I'll start putting a bug in her ear now. That's only about a 2/3 hour flight or 12 hour drive.
